Case Study Triple Lay Over

Appointed to carry out detailed design work for a new-build rice mill and dry goods warehouse and to secure necessary planning consents. Then appointed as East End Foods’ agent to tender and manage the construction and fit-out of the new facility.

The objectives
To provide a state-of-the-art rice milling and polishing facility for one of the largest importers of Indian foods in the UK.

The challenges
The project had to be completed within tight timescales whilst also ensuring that imported design solutions complied with UK regulations. Ground conditions were also difficult.

 

The result

  • 4700m2, 12 high warehouse and production facility designed and constructed 
  • Bulk offloading facilities for imported rice created
  • Four 18m high 4000,000kg rice silos installed
  • Bespoke 18m-high rice milling and polishing facility with four-storey mezzanine structure constructed
  • Six on-site staff accommodation units constructed
  • 3800 pallet storage provided
  • Dedicated staff amenities provided
  • Milling, packing, palletising, chilled storage, nut production and loading bay facilities installed
